This message is about getting help with everyday things so you can stay at home and be more independent. You can get this help through your NDIS Plan’s Assistance with Daily Life. This can include getting assistance with regular tasks, like cleaning or cooking, or getting help with personal activities like bathing or dressing. This kind of help is called personal care support.
Examples of personal hygiene include activities such as showering, bathing, brushing teeth, and grooming. Others include taking care of menstrual needs, controlling bladder and bowel movements, and using the restroom. In addition, drinking, eating, attending meetings, and using assistive technology such as hearing aids and communication devices are also essential for some individuals. Moving around and transferring, like getting on and off the toilet or getting in and out of bed, can also be a part of personal hygiene. Finally, if a participant is injured, basic first aid like applying splints may also be necessary.
